چکیده
Parkinson's disease is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases caused by degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra . The neuropathologic hallmark of Parkinson's disease is the presence of Lewy bodies composed mostly of alpha-synuc1ein and ubiquitin. It is believed that the occurrence of Parkinson's disease is due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors, but the exact mechanism of Parkinson's disease development is not fully elucidated. The most characteristic motor symptoms for Parkinson's disease include bradykinesia, rigidity, resting tremor and postural instability, while many patients also have non-motor signs and symptoms. The key therapeutic agent in the treatment of Parkinson's disease is L-dopa, and the others are dopaminergic agents, monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) inhibitors, catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors, amantadine and anticholinergic agents.

Will Stem Cell Biology Generate New Therapies for Parkinson's Disease?
Three papers recently published in Nature Medicine provide the most detailed analyses of fetal midbrain grafts in patients with Parkinson's disease. Some of the results are surprising and suggest a new wave of questions aimed at both the value of cell therapy and the nature of the disease itself.
متن کاملTop Altmetric Scores in the Parkinson’s Disease Literature
A new class of social web-based metrics for scholarly publications (altmetrics) has surfaced as a complement to traditional citation-based metrics. Our aim was to study and characterize those recent papers in the field of Parkinson's disease which had received the highest Altmetric Attention Scores and to compare this attention measure to the traditional metrics. The top 20 papers in our analys...
متن کاملCan stress trigger Parkinson's disease?
In this manuscript we summarize the role of chronic stress as a potential trigger factor for Parkinson's disease. Underlying mechanisms and stress-induced changes to the neuronal networks have been highlighted. Examples of stress induced reversible symptoms that resemble parkinsonism in humans and in animal models raise the question whether emotional stress can cause striatal degeneration in su...
